Cara Chan

Cara Chan is a sculptor living and working in Los Angeles, CA. She received her MFA from UCLA in 2017, and BFA from NYU in 2009. She studied stone carving at the Untersberg Quarry in Austria in 2019, and traditional wood carving (coffin carving) at the Kane Kwei carpentry workshop in Teshi, Ghana in 2015. Her hand-carved sculptures pay tribute to ancient and auspicious apotropaic forms, drawing from a deep well of reverence for human relationships and earthly materials.
