Winter in The Valley
January 29 – February 27, 2021
The Valley is pleased to present Winter in The Valley, a group exhibition showcasing paintings made en plein air in collaboration with the Guild of Adventure Painters.
Over the two weeks preceding the exhibition’s opening on January 29, Guild of Adventure Painters’ founders Aaron Zulpo and Johnny DeFeo led socially-distant painting excursions to iconic locations of Northern New Mexico, working alongside local artists Will Bruno, Beau Carey, Sean Hudson, Robert Martin, Raychael Stine, and Gabriella Trujillo. These excursions ranged as far north as Questa and as far south as Albuquerque; including Diablo Canyon, Ojito Wilderness, Bandelier National Monument, the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, Cerro Pedernal, Taos Mountain, and many other lesser known vistas in between.
Winter in The Valley aims to showcase the beauty of the winter landscape in New Mexico as seen by a variety of artists working in the area, and to build community among painters who enjoy exploring the outdoors, a central tenet of the Guild of Adventure Painters and their Adventure Painting Residency program.
